CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

BALLET

Our new ballet program now begins in creative movement and goes all the way up to an advanced level, including pre pointe and pointe.  Students will learn classical ballet, its French terminology, and the English translation to those terms. Our ballerinas will slowly progress, with each level becoming a little more complex and intricate. Each class will include barre, center, and across the floor combinations.  It is very common for students to remain in the same level until they master it and have teacher approval to move up to the next level. Ballet teaches incredible discipline, proper technique, and is the foundation for all other dance genres.

TAP

Our level tap class is designed to develop proper technique, produce clear sounds, and develop solid rhythm. We will teach a variety of styles from Classical to Broadway, and everything in between. Tap is great for coordination, slowly building up speed as the year progresses, and is a ton of fun!

DANCE WITH ME

For our little ones who aren’t quite ready for pre-k classes, we invite them to bring their adult to class! In Dance With Me we will start teaching the simplest of stretches, moves that establish coordination, have fun dancing to music with prompts, use our imagination, turn books in to dances, and even a little tumbling, singing, and yoga here and there.

PRE-K BALLET/TAP COMBO

Our pre ballet and tap combo will begin learning the fundamentals and basic steps in both ballet and tap. Each class will begin with ballet, followed by tap, with a performance in each in the Spring recital. Our classes will consist of a review of creative movement, fun combinations, correct stretching techniques, manners, class etiquette, imagination, seasonal lessons, and tons of fun!

JAZZ

Instead of a traditional jazz class, we have upped our game, and have added in our leaps and turns class. In addition to classic jazz, we will go through some of the different styles of jazz, and how it has evolved over the years. Each class will have an advanced warm up and center portion concentrating on technique, grounding, and isolations. Students will then put these steps together through across the floor progressions that include many technical steps, precise and fast footwork, and advanced leaps and turns.

CONTEMPORARY

While Modern and Contemporary are technically two different styles of dance, there is a huge benefit to both and they come together nicely, so we have merged the two creating a wonderful fusion class. Contemporary dance is a collaborative style that includes modern, jazz, ballet and hip hop, so we will begin by learning the different styles of modern, a little of everything in between, and turn it in to a wonderful contemporary class with strong modern undertones.

POINTE

Our pointe classes are by teacher invitation and approval only. Students will be moved up from ballet 3+4 and intermediate ballet where they will start pointe. Pointe will focus on optimal ankle strength, proper technique, and exercises to prepare you for pointe shoes.  Once you are given permission to purchase pointe shoes, please make sure your teacher approves your shoes before you sew on the ribbons and elastics, and please do not practice without teacher supervision. We start out slow, and only at the barre, and then advance at a slow pace to center work.

WORSHIP DANCE

A Christ- centered class that teaches dancers to use movement as an act of worship to Jesus Christ. Through Scripture- based choreography and intentional instruction, students learn to express biblical truth with excellence, reverence, and joy. The class encourages spiritual growth, teamwork, and artistic expression in a supportive environment where dancers are challenged to use their God- given gifts to glorify Christ and encourage others.

CHILDREN’S MOVEMENT

Based on fundamental movement patterns and incorporates BrainDance to support healthy brain and body development through movement. Students will explore the core concepts of dance- including space, time, and energy in- in a fun, age - appropriate environment. These essential building blocks prepare dancers for future technical training while developing the movement skills they need for both dance and everyday life.

THEATER DANCE

Theater dance, or musical theater dance, is a storytelling medium that blends acting with various dance styles like jazz, tap, and ballet. It is designed to convey character emotions and advance a plot on stage, relying heavily on musical interpretation and dramatic expression.

HIPHOP

A dynamic, expressive street style dance characterized by bouncing, rocking, and freestyle movement.

DRILL TEAM PREP (DTP) & HIGH KICK
